Numerical Analysis of Flow Characteristics of Upper Swirling Liquid Film Based on the Eulerian Wall Film Model

The Upper Swirling Liquid Film (USLF) phenomenon that occurs in the upper cylinder of Gas–Liquid Cylindrical Cyclone (GLCC) separator is direct cause low separation efficiency liquid phase. In this study, first, USLF formation and development were simulated by an improved Eulerian-EWF coupled method. By introducing a profile-defined inlet boundary considering entrainment droplet size distributions, method got reasonable results which agreed well with experimental. Then, flow characteristics changing laws including film thickness, axial velocity, tangential velocity analyzed under different gas–liquid rates. It suggested thickness often reaches maximum at aspect ratio ( z - 0 )/ D =(1.2–3.9) above inlet, appears to be more sensitive gas than flow. For direction on front back sides seems generally opposite. Finally, typical distributions aforementioned variables presented corresponded accordingly, two obvious rules found. One position where thickest located always corresponds turns from positive negative for first time. other has strong synchronous relationship thickness. This research might provide somewhat valid information future LCO-prevented measurement GLCC separators.
